Check the backpacks!

March 08, 2010 by at 02:54 PM

I always get a kick out of Mike Antonucci’s Intercepts Blog, billed as a listening post monitoring public education and teachers’ unions. It never fails to elicit a chuckle.  This one is from his latest:

Local unions have organized teachers to hand out fliers to parents about education cuts. Parents, I assume, will not be handing out fliers to teachers about public employee pension funds.

Make sure you check your backpacks, kids.

They do this here in BC as well. It went to court. The courts said the teachers have every right to use parent’s night to give out flyers about government cutbacks.

Most smart parents will see right through the smog.
We don’t need that here in Ontario we have puppet parent organizations to do it for the unions.

It jus so happens, Mr Sheep, that what is good for kids is not only good for teachers and support staff it is even good for teachers’ unions (see the thread above).

I know you don’t like it but it is true.

Yes I’m sure the BCTF has the right to use parent night to hand out fliers, but do they do it from across the street from the school as outlined in the article? I doubt it.

No they don’t. The court held that they can pass them out right at their desk in the school.
